about
Somewhere near the beginning of my love affair with Blues, I heard a couple of tunes by JB Lenoir. Finding the mystery album (‘Alabama Road’) containing that beautiful, haunting music became a kind of Holy Grail mission for me. Although the original is slower and darker, this version of JB’s tune is transformed into a wild acoustic boogie, reflecting the energy and exuberance of me, Jimi and Ronnie James when we jammed in the studio. And, yes – Jimi Bott really is playing nothing but a small plastic trash can and a pair of bongos.
lyrics
Everything must be done, down on the county farm
Sitting here behind a wall, being treated just like a dog
It makes me want to go
Makes want to go and I don’t care where I go…
Hey there little ol’ boy, sit down on my knee
I got something to tell you
How you been sending me
And it makes me want to go
Makes me want to go and I don’t care where I go…
Everything must be done
Yeah it’s a natural fact
Eleven foot cotton sack
Hanging heavy on down my back
And it makes me want to go
Makes me want to go and I don’t care where I go…
