Trying to maintain the integrity of the blues tradition, while making your own stories, that’s the alchemy I find so intriguing, satisfying and fun.
It’s fitting and very wonderful to be accompanied here by legendary Delta pianist Pinetop Perkins, a living link to the ‘old time ways’, and someone who continues share his talent and music at the age of 96. I make no apologies for the sassy lyrics, especially not to Pinetop, who is a bit of a ladies man! I also give a respectful nod to ‘Steady Rollin’ Bob Margolin, whose playing and friendship I always find inspirational. As for Pinetop’s thoughts - ‘Who’s gonna pay it? Tom Mix!’
